Here at Water Wood we’re proud of the flat-sided baits we’ve produced like the Cute Pig, the Beauty Pig and the Mini Pig. We’re confident that they build on the great American cranking heritage of similar plugs to create a product that will put more fish in your boat, especially when the water’s cold, the bass are pressured or the fishing is otherwise tough. However, we also realize that there are times when fishing a flat-sided lure is impractical. For example, even our heavier models don’t cast quite as well as round crankbaits. That’s why, after substantial testing and design work, I’m proud to introduce three “hybrid” crankbaits that reside in a category all their own, somewhere between the flat baits and the more rounded lures that cast better, but may not be as finesse-oriented.

We’ve labeled them the Little Chick, the Chubby Chick and the Fat Chick, respectively, as they grow in size. What’s unique about these lures is that they retain the flat sides that make their action so desirable, with the trademark Water Wood durability that others lack, but at the same time we’ve gently rounded the corners. The result is remarkable. Where those flat lures caught wind and sometimes ended up helicoptering through the air and short of their target, these crankbaits cut a straight line to your intended destination.
